2004 Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast
This event is held each year the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. It is jointly sponsored by The Exchange Club of Irvine, The Irvine Chamber of Commerce and The City of Irvine.
Thanksgiving is, of course, a uniquely American Holiday and this event has been, for over 22 years, a kind of upbeat kick-off to the Holiday season in Irvine. Business, community and civic leaders join together in a mutual expression of thankfulness for the privilege we share of living in America and that of living in Irvine.
It is a unique opportunity to bring together diverse cultures and faiths to celebrate America and the freedoms we enjoy. Each year nearly 400 community members (including California Assembly members, area City Council members, elected school district officials, City of Irvine professionals, and local business leaders) attend the event.

The Exchange Club of Irvine, working with the Irvine Teachers Association and the Irvine Unified School District, hosts an annual awards program to honor outstanding teachers in Irvine.
Thirty-eight teachers are selected by their peers to represent excellence in the teaching profession at their respective schools or in their educational program. A special selection committee identifies an elementary teacher, a middle school teacher and a high school teacher as Irvine Unified School District’s Outstanding Teachers of the Year. In addition, four “Teachers of Promise” new to the education profession are honored.
Recipients are awarded plaques and certificates to commemorate their success. They also receive generous monetary gifts, to be used personally and in the classroom, provided by the Irvine Company.
A highlight of this years event was the playing of the National Anthem by the Marine Corp band. The Exchange Club of Irvine has been honoring the Irvine teachers for the past 19 years through this exceptional event held annually in May.
